IS LOOKING FORWARD TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER!

location: Momella - Arusha - District

The Arusha national park is partially still very wooded. He owns several small lakes and an impressive crater. Beside few elephants and leopards Kaffernbüffel seem in big number. In the tree summits tummel to itself in even bigger number black-and-white Colobusmonkeys. With good view relations you have a huge view of the Mount Meru and the neighbouring Kilimanjaro.

water situation: The region all around the Kilimanjaro disposes of source water occurence from the mountains. Water get the inhabitants from pools. The uncalm water presses here and there as a spring to the surface so the people bottle drinking water and carry it to the village.

inhabitants: In the several villages live between 3.000 and 5.000 people with ca. 500 children under the age of 8.

planed activities: In February 2012 the LBW well-builder team plans to begin with the first module of the education. There is the possibility to lead the available springs by means of spring and drinking water memory arrangement. For the water transportation a solar pump should be used which is controlled and waited constantly by our partner organisation "Afrika Amini Alama".

As an other important thing which the LBW team planed is to clean functional wells in Arusha District or if they do not work anymore the team will repair the pumps or exchange. The existing wells should be located by means of GPS, be marked with numbers and be put down afterwards on a specially invested well map.

target: With the special project "clean drinking water for Tanzania" our organisation would like to train young men to well-builders. The participants should learn how shaft wells and source versions are produced. 

Another part of the education is the expert assembly and servicing of the pumping arrangement as well as the careful contact with the village wells, so that the drinking water reservoirs remain hygienically flawless and clean. Together with partner organisations in Africa and an Austrian well drilling team we work on this unusual education project with the aim that the youngster get the necessary "Know How" to be able to found an own well construction company after successful conclusion after a 3-year Education.
