Kenya - Area Maralal
IS LOOKING FORWARD TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER!
location: Maralal is located on a hill in the north of Kenya, eastern of the Loroghi Plateau in the Samburu Distrikt . It is the Headoffice of the Samburu people.
The town serves as a base for tourist activities like bush wanderings, Rafting and camel ride.
water situation: Many years' clearing led sometime to the fact that about the formerly fertile area in East Africa no more rain discharged and the clouds pulled several hundred kilometres away further in the direction of the Victoria-Falls. These were above all the missing, normally strong rainfall of the month April and May which sealed the present disaster. The people must run the long distances up to the next watering place or have to drink constrainedly dirty and with germs dirtied water.

Young male villagers can qualify in a strict selection procedure for the education as well-builder. Afterwards a project plan is provided for every project and the single areas of responsibility are distributed to the participants.
As soon as the training group LBW 2012 is put down completely, can be begun with the education block.
target: With the special project "clean drinking water for Kenya" our organisation would like to train young men to well-builders. The participants should learn how shaft wells and source versions are produced.
Another part of the education is the expert assembly and servicing of the pumping arrangement as well as the careful contact with the village wells, so that the drinking water reservoirs remain hygienically flawless and clean.
Together with partner organisations in Africa and an Austrian well drilling team we work on this unusual education project with the aim that the youngster get the necessary "Know How" to be able to found an own well construction company after successful conclusion after a 3-year Education.
