The beginning...
In 2008 the whole team of the company S&K Brunnenbohr GmbH has undertaken for the first time a holiday trip to Kenya in the region of Dani - Beach / Mombasa. The company members spent together a nice 14-day vacation in "Africa - Safaribeach Hotelresort" and enjoyed the luxury and the culinary lusciousness in the wonderful tourist arrangement by the sea.
During a safari tour to the inland of Kenya the team saw for the first time the water poverty in remote villages and pictures like children laboriously scratched in the ground to find vital importance water . These frightening images of the water poverty in Kenya have arranged the S&K team to exert themselves actively for people in countries poor in water.
In the Wajir District, situated to the north, the water need is the biggest because it has not rained to this area for many years any more. Another problem is the refugee's stream from Somalia and the danger from civil war fighters in and around Somalia. Every year many people and animals die agonising as a result of the drinking water lack. With the animals the people also lose the food bases which depend currently on the drinking water delivery in tankers. Only 20 litres or 1 canisters of drinking water are available per week to a 5-headed family.
LBW will build in this region 10 drinking water stations with the help of well sponsors next year with solar pump arrangement and drinking water reservoir. With the conversion of these projects 100,000 people get the access to clean drinking water and the chance of a humane life.
After this trip (2009)Gabriele & Dietmar Stuck sen. found the relief organisation „life needs water“ with big personal engagement in an honourary capacity for the conversion of drinking water projects in countries with less water.
